Why do people stay in abusive relationships?
I feel there is no one reason that people stay in abusive there are probably many reasons varying the situation.
One reason is that people keep believing that the abusive person is going to change.
Anther reason is that maybe the abuser is supporting the victim and the victim thinks its okay because they aren’t on the street and hungry.
Maybe the victim has children with the abuser and doesn’t want the children to be missing a father in their life.
Another reason is that victims feel so worthless that they feel they need the abuser.
Perhaps the victims were raised in an abusive home so they think abusive behavior is normal.

Breathing Underwater; Prediction
I think it will be about his hardships. I think it won’t be very nice but it will probably be a good book. I kind of like books like this. Because it puts you in check because it tells you about others problems and you think wow they have it worse than you. So it makes you feel a little relieved .I know I don’t have it that ruff, well anymore. That’s what I think about it. But who knows how it is going to turn out. maybe he use to hit his girlfriend? That’s why she knows he is not perfect and may be he tells his group about his hard times so they know the real him. Maybe he will be different at the end. Who knows? Well that’s what I think anyway. Can’t wait to find out what happens.

Violence
Is violence ever ok? I would have to say yes at times it is ok to fight. Should we always fight? No I mean people are always trying to “prove how tough they are” or how cool they are and it’s stupid. We are constantly trying to hurt one another over ridiculous things. I can understand those people who just have anger problems ,but if your like that, then get it taken care of because no one wants to be around that. I think that it is ok to fight if someone is hurting you or if someone you care about is getting hurt. That doesn’t mean you should just like kill the person though. There is self defense then there is just over the top beating the crap out of someone and that’s only ok in rare occasions. Everyone is just so caught up on being “tougher, bigger, better.” When in reality you look ridiculous always trying to fight people. So yes you will win a few fights and there may be some a little scared or think your cool for a little bit but then what? Exactly nothing. So only fight to defend your self or someone you love, and don’t like murder them just defend yourself.

Breathing Underwater: Characters
Tom is a boy who tries to look cool and be funny. Also he is obsessed with his muscles. Nick is a guy who likes to chill and lay-back. He does not care if he has a girlfriend or not until he sees Cat. Mario is his anger therapist and is pretty pushy with Nick. Nick’s dad is pretty abusive with Nick. He doesn’t care about anybody else but himself. Nick’s therapy group is okay, everybody doesn’t like to talk that much, but they do talk they have to. They mainly just let the therapist talk to them. I relate to Nick the most because I just like to lay back and chill. Cat is a girl that cares about people she really hates it when Nick tells here to get rid of her friend. Even though she has been her friend for over ten years. I think she stays in the relationship because she has seen it happen with other people and she thinks it is okay to be in abusive relationship.

Violence
ok, so I think that violence is never the answer, it is never necessary, but there is always violence in the world. I don’t think that it is the answer because you can always talk it out no matter what the problem is, but no one ever does that because they don’t know how to talk with their mouths, just their fists. Obviously they don’t have enough brainpower to talk about their problems so I doesn’t break out into a fight that doesn’t need to happen. I think that you should always stick up for yourself, but you also should learn how to talk out your problems and not start fights. I think that the only reasons you should fight are for self defense, and if someone is getting mugged. I also think that sticking up for your beliefs is really important too. That’s all I got to say.

Violence
Is violence even necessary? If so, when? If not, why not?
Now there are many reasons to this, many different points of views to this. People go trough so much, so many struggles in a every day life. What do you do when it happens to your? I guess that’s the only way of answering this question with the most sincerity.
But I think, personally, violence should not be something we should use in order to control and organize things that need work. To sit down and think about everything that is really going on, to get the real picture, instead of thinking with anger of egos. Many people do this and end up in drastic results. Choices have results and we are responsible for them. We always wish we could go back in time and change the things that we did that we end up regretting in the future. I’m sure nobody wants to feel this way, I’m sure nobody hates there close friends/family so much that they really want to hurt them. Now what I can say about the people that have, I know they regret it as they sit right now in jail or in whatever program they got put in.

My Brother
So I chose to write about my brother because I feel like I don’t deserve him. Cade and me started fighting, and he asked me what my problems were. I said why do you care you have never been there for me before why start now? I feel like he doesn’t care cause when I started to tell him what was going on he just was like I have got more problems then you. Aren’t brothers supposed to help you and give you advice? Not make you feel like crap when you already do, but after the fight I realized Cade has helped me he has done a lot for me. That’s no excuse for how he makes me feel he tells me how I will never do good, and if I do he will be surprised because I have never done good before. I have tried to get along with him but everything I do is never good for him. I feel like he cares a lot more about his girl friend than me. To him im just a little know it all brat. I thought this would be a good journal to write. Just to get my feelings out.

Respect
Well what I want to talk about or mention is relationships and how some men treat girls. Because the other day I was talking to one of my girlfriend’s(friend) and she was telling me how her ex-boyfriend hit her and that pissed me off. Also she told me how he got pissed at her and he left her up in the mountains so nobody could find her. I told her that he a dumb*** and nobody should treat anybody like that. She didn’t really say anything, but that did get to me and I just wanted to go beat him up myself because she is a human to and nobody just leaves somebody up in the mountain like that. So the reason I wrote this is because it relates to Nick I mean how he’s all controlling in the book towards his girlfriend and there are a lot of people like that and I just wish that their wasn’t because it pisses me off, well that’s all I have to say.

Have you ever bought a car you barely have to fix? That’s why you should buy a convertible mustang! Have you ever had a car that you barely even used because it was always in the shop? Have you ever seen yourself driving a mustang? Well, you should now! Mustangs are one of the best cars ever. They look really good, there pretty cheap for a car that looks that great, and they can go fast!
Convertible mustangs are really nice look. They are sports car so they are really good looking. Most cars you can go pick out exterior and interior, so you can make them look however you want them to. They also are made out of great, durable, so what expensive material. They are somewhat shiny too, so they look pretty cool.
These cars are really great for the summertime! You can go driving by the ocean and get a great view and smell of it. You can always get hit with hot air, but cool wind, which feels great! You also have a great view because there are no windows to get in you way. Then wind just feels great as you drive through whatever city you’re in.
Mustangs last really long because they use somewhat expensive parts so it’s a lot more durable. Ford is a respectable carmaker. I believe they are more durable and respectable car dealership then Mitsubishi and Mazda. Mazda is cheap and have pretty crappy cars. They don’t last that long at all! They are cheap to fix, but the parts don’t last very long at all. That’s why mustangs are better. They can be pretty expensive to fix, but you rarely have to fix it.
You should now go out and get a mustang. Don’t forget that they are great for the summer time. The best part is the ocean smell from miles away. Now you will have a car that you go on trips in without breaking down. You won’t have the problem of it sitting in the shop for now on. So go out and pick they way you want you mustang to look and have fun in it.

Do you like to buy new shoes every month? Because I know I don’t. payless shoes are not worth your money. Don’t waste the money you could be using for other things that are worth it.
Payless does not have good quality shoes. Their shoes are not comfortable. They are made of artificial leather. Payless shoes wear out awfully fast. They don’t usually have the right size.
Payless is quite inconvenient. They have no shoe salesman to fit your shoes. Their shoes don’t fit right. Also, they don’t have good service.
Payless does not have a lot of variety either. A lot of their shoes look the same. They are not up to date with social fashion. They have no name brands too.
So when you need new shoes, think twice. Is payless worth your money? Buy shoes that will be durable and long lasting, cute and up to date. Go to places where you get your moneys worth.

Did you just notice you’re out of eggs or that one of your kids need a poster board for science tomorrow? It’s a little past midnight and you just want to run to one store and hurry home to your bed. Wal-Mart has it all! Wal-Mart has great conveniences, contains large varieties, and is an easy store to become familiar with. Now let me explain to you why I would choose Wal-Mart over Target.
My first reason for this belief is that Wal-Mart is very convenient. It’s open 24/7, which is convenient when you get the munchies and need to run to the store at 2 in the morning. Having either a McDonald’s or Subway inside the store is convenient as well. We all know how it feels when shopping just exhausts us!
My second reason for this belief is that Wal-Mart has large varieties. There’s a grocery department, which of course contains food; steak, chicken, hamburger, potatoes, vegetables, fruit, chips, cookies, etc. they also have a clothing and shoe department for all ages and stereo- types. For the men there’s the mechanic and electronics department carrying tools, TV’s, computers, and the greasy stuff.
My third and final reason for this belief is that Wal-Mart is an easy store to become familiar with. The setup is usually the same in every store throughout Utah. Wal-Mart is nation wide with great locations. If you’re out on vacation or on a trip, Wal-Mart is always there to just make a quick stop.
So now that I’ve explained to you that Wal-Mart is convenient, has large variety, and is easy to become familiar with; you should now have the want and urge to shop at Wal-Mart for anything and everything at anytime.

Narrative: Final Paper
“Oh my gosh my arm is broken huh, it’s broken!?” “Wow this is taking so long to get there, when are we going to get there?” As we take the hour long drive to Toole the excitement and laughter is going around the truck. We were talking about how many people have gotten hurt and life flighted from here and the different scary stories. I told them about how I have never broken anything or even got stitches. I thought I was never going to be in that situation.
So me, Paul, Jason, Tyler, Sheldon and Shawn were all just sitting in the hot sun looking over the piles of dirt. “Well let’s go ride guys!” Shawn yells. We unload the bikes and put on our gear. As we all hop on our bikes we all are in a hurry to start them up. I have to stand on the back of the truck, the tailgate, because I am too short to reach the ground when I’m on the bike. We all slowly ride to the start line and count down. 5..4..VROOM...VROOM…1…BRAAAPPPP!
We all turn the first corner with perfect ruts to ride in. It was amazing. I fall behind after the first jump and move on to the smaller track in the back. I talk to myself, motivating, encouraging myself, and pushing myself to go faster. When all the sudden Paul, my boyfriend, comes right up behind me and tries to push me to go faster and pushing me to my limits. First gear, Second gear, and wow I’m moving fast! He speeds past me as I feel my bike fly in the air and land on the other side of the jump trying to keep up.
I turn a corner to fast in very soft dirt and choked up. I don’t want to slide out so I have no choice but to jump this drop off. So quickly I just jump right off the side and endow right over my handlebars. I black out for a second. I lay there on my tummy thinking about how it was so dumb I just crashed in front of everyone. I try to sit up but can’t see out of my goggles because of the blood from my nose hitting my helmet when I crashed. My arm gives out, the pain starts to come and my adrenalin leaves. Paul comes running up to picks and me me up and the bike. “Is the bike ok?” I wine, “Is my arm broke, It’s broke huh, oh my gosh it’s broke!” I start to freak out. At first my arm hurt so bad I couldn’t even cry. Paul lifts up my jersey and I see my bent arm. It was not supposed to look like that!
All of the sudden everyone starts to crowd me looking at my bloody, dirty, sweaty, make up all over face. I hadn’t drank anything and been riding in the hot sun about an hour at this point so my face was a mess. To add my goggles were like shedding so I had black flakes all over. Anyways I will get back to my story. So everyone is looking at me and asking if I’m ok. Do I look ok I mean really guys? All I could think about was how I really needed to get to a hospital. I was in shock at first but that lasted maybe 3 minutes.
The pain was so bad now I was just in tears begging Paul to climb me into the huge truck we had brought. I hopped into the back of the truck and we were headed to well no where. We had no idea where we were going so on a hunt is where we were going. We drive around about 20 minutes and its agonizing pain. My arm is rocking around as I’m trying my best to hold my arm against my chest. No matter what I did the pain wasn’t going away and I was getting impatient.
Finally we found an urgent care and we ran in. They cut off my jersey, shoved a needle in my arm, they gave me a tetanus shot and they told me to count to ten. 1..2..3.. then I was awake. The white medicine they put in my arm knocked me out straight up. I woke up to a white cast going all the way up my arm. They had re-broken it and straightened it out. I learned very quickly not to show off when I don’t know how to ride motorcycles very good. Also to top it off my boyfriend told me I looked so beautiful and it was sarcasm. Way to be.

Narrative: Final Paper
I didn’t want the big bad people to get me. So I got off the bus and slowly made my way towards my house. My sister and I hid behind each house and ran between the openings. So that the bad people my mommy had been talking about couldn’t see us. I am four years old. Behind one of the houses I saw a pretty butterfly. Then a calico cat came and caught it in his big claws. When I got home I hesitantly went into the house. Mommy was stumbling through the house with her big red eyes and messy hair. She was on drugs. Once upon a time she was that pretty butterfly. Now that cat named heroine cocaine has caught her. She started yelling and as her hand made contact with my left temple mumbling something about how bad I was. I wished for my pretty butterfly back and closed my eyes to endure the pain.
That night my mom decided to throw a party. My sister gets really angry when she throws these kinds of parties. Sometimes the men will take my sister away from our room. I don’t like the way she screams. She tells me to hit the “hairy men” if they try to touch me.
On this particular night my sister and I had a bright idea. We tied sheets together from our bedpost out our window. Then we started to slide down the sheets. About half way down the sheets broke and I landed on my sister on the grass below our window. We played for a long time, outside where no one could yell at us or tell us what to do. I have this kind of habit. I make promises to myself that will make me not be like my mom; or others who have abused me.
At that moment of freedom and peace I closed my eyes and whispered to myself, “I promise that I will feel this again.” As I opened my eyes I saw a look of panic on my sisters face.
“She’s looking for us!” she yelled.
“Why?” I asked not wanting this feeling to go away.
“I don’t know, but we have to hurry.” We ran in the direction of the house. When we got close we realized that almost everyone had left. My sister swore under her breath. “What are we going to do?” I asked, not wanting to get hit by my mother again. We tried to sneak in the house but my mom’s boyfriend, at the time, was sitting on the stairs to our room. My sister swore again, but a little more loudly.
He got up and called for my mom, “They’re back.” He called with a twisted pleasure in his voice.
“You sicken me!” my sister spat in his face. He slapped her across her cheek. I started to cry but she didn’t. she looked him in his eyes, “You’re a disgusting excuse of a man!”
this time my mom hit her. Then I yelled at my mom so she turned and backhanded me. “I promise to never hit my kids.” I thought to myself as I fell to the floor.
About a week later, we silently made our way to our house. I spotted that ugly cat on his way to catch another pretty butterfly. It reminded my of the temptation of drugs, creeping up on people, stealing their life and abusing their kids. “I promise I’ll never do drugs.” I urgently whispered.
“What?” my sister questioned me as if I was crazy.
“Nothing…nothing.” I replied.
“Anyways,” she wiped away her curiosity, “Are you ready?” I looked up and realized we were walking in our back door. There was music playing? My sister and I exchanged glances.
My mom was folding clothes. She wasn’t on drugs! This was a first for a long time. “Mommy?” I asked.
She turned around and I noticed the tears that soaked her cheeks. “You’re going to your aunties house for a while.” She choked.
We cheered and ran to the door as our grandma’s car pulled in the driveway with our aunt in the passenger seat.
It was a long ride to the small town of Myton, UT. It was also a long two weeks that we stayed. One day as my aunt was doing laundry and I was feeling homesick I walked up to her and she looked at me sadly. Almost as if she knew the question I was going to ask. “Auntie Colleen?” I asked, “Can we go home yet?”
She paused and put down the towel she was folding. “sweetie, you’re not going home- never again.”
Wow, I thought, never sure is a long time!
“I promise to never be the big bad person- I promise to never be my mom!”
Through this experience I have learned how drugs in the home affect those around you and those who love you. My mom might have loved me very much, but because of drugs she never got a chance to actually show that. After leaving my mom’s house I have now spent 91/2 years in foster care. My promises have actually gotten me very far. Of course I have not followed them all the way. However I have done a great job. I have felt that freedom again, so many times. Probably due to the fact that I have kept myself from those things that kept my mom trapped and insecure! I am proud to say that I am now in eleventh grade and very happy and successful. I am going to college and that so far is nothing my mom ever did. I am me like I say: no apologies, no regrets!

Narrative: Final Paper
After pigging out and taking another hit, I passed out. Then I’d wake up and do it all over again, day after day. Have you ever had an addiction? TV., caffeine, video games, etc.? Mine was the drugs and alcohol and all of the partying that came with it. I never thought that I would ever get addicted to something like drugs or alcohol.
It started off slow. Just trying this or that her and there and that’s all. Just wanted to experiment and know the feeling. Then I learned that I loved the feelings drugs and alcohol brought. Months progressed on and my drug and alcohol use got a little more persistent. I started using once or twice a week and slowly started to sluff with “friends.”
That summer appeared and the fun and addiction got wilder. The school year started up again and I started lacing my weed with other drugs and was smoking it on a daily basis at least twice a day. I eventually just quit school altogether and started to drift away from my family.
That year was coming to an end and it was true to say that I was addicted. My world revolved around me, drugs and alcohol, friends, and parties. Then time came that I was caught. The fun for my teenage years was over. I was taken over to Receiving for a month in Richfield, sent to O&E at A.R.T.E.C South for 2 1/2 months, then placed in a Proctor home for 3 months; the first 2 weeks at the proctor placement I was on House Arrest, and I was placed into a program called 4 The Youth. While I was in that program I had individual therapy, family therapy, drug group therapy, and girls group therapy weekly.
Now I’m out of all the programs and I have been sober for seven months. I’ve gotten my priorities in order and know that schooling is at the top. I’ve basically messed my freshman and sophomore years up. I plan to graduate on time with my class and I just want to see myself succeed! I’ve gotten a career lined up that I’d love to pursue. Before then I hope to join The National Guard and serve our country! I’ve thought all of this out and have made goals to reach all because I got off the drugs and opened my eyes. When I opened them, I saw many opportunities. Sobriety saved my life.

Narrative Paper: Introduction
I could hear the sirens all around me. All I could see was the red and blue lights. They were everywhere. Tears were falling down my face. I was eleven and my brother was going to get arrested. I could see him in handcuffs at gun point. “Jen, Jen come on we got to go” it was my brother that woke me from my daze. “How the hell could you do this? You ruined our lives! Your so stupid.” “I couldn’t help it. You know how I am with stuff like that.” “I know but really? Could you have just talked to the cop instead of hitting him?” “I’m sorry Jen. Oh come on don’t be like that. I was walking through my house now. My mom was in the kitchen packing every thing. We had to get out as soon as possible. My brother had a warrant and we were leaving Arizona. The worst part of this: we were going to Utah.

“Oh my gosh my arm is broken huh, it’s broken?!” As we take the hour-long drive to Toole that seemed like ten days excitement and laughter warmed the truck. We passed this huge mountain talking about people who have gotten life flighted from there and almost killed. We all kind of just thought to ourselves. “I have never even broke a bone or got one stitch I’m all good.” I say to everyone around me. I never thought I would have to deal with that.

Did you know that being homeless was the worst thing ever.
I was homeless for two years, and still survived, even with three siblings
To take care of.
Before I became homeless I had a pretty normal life, parents that cared,
A house that had electricity and utilitys. I was Loving life. But slowly after that I noticed it. I had noticed that my parents were on Meth. It slowly got worse and worse, I hated it because I had to take care of my two brothers and one sister, because when my parents left, they for days even weeks.
And then finally one day they didn’t come back and I was so scared.
So I dropped out of school and started selling narcotics to support my sibling.
We lived in a mobile van in the back of my aunts house, which was a junk yard, in Magna…

Narrative Paper: Introduction
Have you ever been in a group home? I have. Group homes aren’t as scary as the T.V. portrays them to be. It is just like living with a bunch of people, and having other people watch your every move. In my case it was nothing but girls. But rarely there was men staff that worked, and you would visit the boys home. But that was rare well anyways. You think you have a lot of drama in your life. Well try living with 15 other girls. That just screams drama. I stayed out of it most of the time. I had a hard time adapting at first. But then I got use to all the crap. I realized I put myself in this crap so I couldn’t complain. I loved the food though. That was a good part of living there. But either than that I hated every minute of living there. But I still keep in contact with my friends I made there.

Now that cat named heroine cocaine catches her. She started yelling and as her hand made contact with my left temple mumbling something about how bad I was. I wished for my pretty butterfly back and closed my eyes to endure the pain.

My 18th Birthday.
I was just sitting there when I realized turning eighteen isn’t all that cool. I had my eighteenth birthday about two weeks ago. It was a good birthday for sure. Right at midnight some of my friends sang happy birthday to me.
Later that day when I woke up for the day my parents had made me a cake and gave me a couple presents. One of my best friends Jasmine threw me a little party that night.
It wasn’t till later that night when some friends and I were driving around that I realized its really not that cool to be an adult. Pretty much the only thing you can do that you couldn’t do before is stay out as late as you want. I guess I could go to a couple clubs if I wanted to but I really don’t dig that scene. Being an adult has me very cautious and careful of what I do because I definitely do not want to experience jail.

“Of course I will, I’m so excited to see your house.” My adoptive parents and me were talking about the house they lived in, and they were asking if I wanted to be there son. I didn’t have a family, so of course I said yes. I was so excited. Have you ever felt “needed” or “wanted” by any body? Well I did the day my adoptive parents first told me they were going to adopt me.

I am so tired of this place I got people in my face every minute of the day.
Telling me how I am wrong and how I should feel- I am thinking to myself, get real.
You can’t tell me what I am thinking
nope I don’t think so cause I am done with your show
I am tired of being Pinocchio.
I am cutting the strings to let me down, I got both feet on the ground
want to tell me what to do now? You keep telling me it’ll all work out.
Now tell me how! Because I have been the one sitting here for four years
I’ve been the one to shed all those tears. I was the one to face all my fears.
I was the one who was held back from my family. I had to sit my ass in all five facilities. Now tell me what’s going to work out- PLEASE!
‘Cause I know you can’t give me back four years of my life
and you definitely won’t be the one who fixes all my fights: so get it right.
You are the one who I can blame all my pain on from this game you’ve been playing along. But you’re so wrong. I am flipping a trip
I am sick of all your dip, your lies, and your game s
always causing me pain.
You say you are not the one who needs the precision
but in my vision you lie behind every decision.
I’ll have god as my witness cause I have been in this to win this and I just got so dissed because I’m the one who has to live everyday with the pain and the feelings you can’t even say. ‘Cause there aren’t any words that can tell how it hurts. So replay all my words and I will replay all the pain. I am saying it again I am done with your game! Don’t pass go and don’t collect your prize take away the pawns and look into my eyes- life’s not a game so stop playing every day’s the same man I am just saying!

9-11
Well since today is 911 I decided I’ll write about where I was and what I was doing on the devastating attack of terror that occurred in 2001.
I open my eyes very tired from the late night of watching cartoons.
My mom has a very worried look on her face as she is watching fox thirteen news.
I ask what is wrong and she explained the best she could without worrying me (I was in second grade) that we were under attack.
I probably should have been in school, but I guess my mom figured school would be canceled or something. I remember I was just happy that I didn’t have to go to school.
Then after seeing the giant towers fall on television I came to the best conclusion I could in my seven-year-old mind that this was very much real.
After the news repeated the same clip about three times I changed the channel to nickelodeon and watched cartoons the rest of the day.

If I Could be Anywhere
If I could go anywhere I would go to Japan. Because I like the cars they make. My first ride on an airplane was scary because I’m scared of heights. Plus I thought we was going to tip over when we went down the runway. But yeah we didn’t, and when we were in the air I thought we was going to die like fall out of the sky. But we made it to Salt Lake city alive. I don’t really know if I see people for who they really are considering that I don’t pay attention to them. But I can tell when people are fake. Does that count?

Anywhere I’d go
I would go somewhere tropical with lots of tree and an ocean that’s as blue as the sky and clear as glass. I don’t really know where this place is, but when I find it trust me I’m going to be there. Maybe this place is somewhere in the ocean waiting for me to find it. You feel me homie.

I’ve never been in a plane. But if I had the chance I’d probably jet out in a jet or chopper.
And not just any jet or chopper but the army type if you know what I mean G.

Traveling
I would like to go to a lot of places, but the place I would like to go the most is probably Egypt. I would like to go to Egypt because I would love to see the Egyptian Tombs and their Pyramids. I have always wanted to be something that has to do with searching for the history of Egypt. It would be neat looking at all the prized items and see how they lived.
Another place I would like to visit is probably Africa. I would like to see their culture and all the cool animals there. I have a couple of friends that have moved from Africa. They have pictures and they look amazing. With their culture I would just like to see how their houses are built, try some of their food, and see if there is stuff they have to do everyday.
My first plane ride was when I was about six years old and it was to California. I think that was my favorite flight ever because it was so cool to see how small everyone was and how everything looked from up above. Ever since then I have wanted to also become a Commercial line Pilot. I think it would be so much fun flying around the world exploring different places.

If I Could Take One Thing Back
The question is if I could take back one thing in my life what would it be. However. I would not take back one thing in my life; I would like to take back something from someone else’s life. I would take away my mother and father’s want to do drugs while my sister and I where with them. Because if they never did drugs, then I might have had a normal life… I might have not been in 16 foster homes and 6 group homes, throughout my life. I believe that drugs are the worst things that you could ever do to yourself; and to your family.
When I was growing up I always thought it was my fault and wished that I could take back my bad actions that got me taken away from my mommy and daddy. Although now that I am grown up and know better, I know that it was not my fault. I know what they did was wrong and after all the consequences that came from their decision to do drugs I am okay with it. Maybe I won’t take it away; because, I am a great person and I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t have all the trials I have had. I like who I am and that is the end, no apologies no regrets!

If I Could Take One Thing Back
I’ve given a lot of thought to the one thing that I would want to take back in my life and I can’t really think of just one. There’s so many that pop into my head and it’s so hard to just choose one. But if I had to choose one, I would take back the fact that I looked at, smelled, and surrounded myself with--DRUGS.
That was my hugest mistake. If I wouldn’t have started drugs, I wouldn’t have gone through half the groundings I’ve been through. I wouldn’t have met most the people that I hung out with. I wouldn’t have gotten into as much trouble either. I’m pretty sure that I probably wouldn’t have ran and if I wouldn’t have ran I wouldn’t have gotten locked up.
If I had kept a clean life then I wouldn’t have had to move to Provo to a Proctor Home. I’d still be in Richfield, going to school everyday, maybe choosing better friends that make smarter choices or at least not bring any of the illegal substances around me. Drugs made me learn a lot of hard lessons in life. Now’s the time to move on.

If I Could Take One Thing Back
If I had the option to take 1 thing back in my life I would actually have a hard time deciding what to do. I mean like a normal human I do have things in my life I regret but over all I think everything happens for a reason.
One thing I always want to take back is dropping out of school when I did but then I would never of been at Summit. I love Summit so much! Summit has changed my life and given me opportunities. I have made more friends and family here than I would of anywhere else.
I think about how I wish I could take back everything that happened with my mom and getting taken away from her. Wow dumb because my mom is not capable to be a mom at all so I would never want to go back. I love my mom but she cant even take care of herself she could never take care of me.
So yes I hate rules but I live with family that loves me and I’m actually made goals and perusing them. I would probably take back some lies I have said or dumb things like that, but over all I don’t think I would take back much. You live and learn right?

If I Could Take One Thing Back
If I could take one thing back in my life it would be how I treated my parents. I treated them like crap. I feel very bad for some of the things I told them. I was doing drugs most of the time. If I wasn’t on drugs, I was on a hang over, or coming down off of something. My mom told me that when I moved out I sent her some emails. She kept those emails and told me that she would never delete them. I read those when I was clean and I felt sick to my stomach. I do not even remember sending them. I see tears in her eyes when she reads over those again.
I have made my dad so mad at me. My dad just cares about me a little too much. He is always trying to look after me. I barley get to see him too. He lives in Bountiful and we live in Spanish Fork. Whenever he came down to spend time with the family, I would tell him to screw off. Then I would go hang out with all my friends. I told all my friends that he was not my real dad.
Now I tell my mom and dad I love them every chance I get. I love them to death and I never want to hurt them again. I am going to live in their basement until I am thirty. I am going to do this to make up for the lost years. I respect them now. I live a totally different life now. I have a better life.

Have you ever covered for a friend? What qualities make a good friend?
Well, I think if you have been friends with someone for long enough, you have probably covered for them at one point. I think I have mostly covered for my friends by telling their parents they were with me when they weren’t, or I would let them leave my house and come sleep when they were done hanging out. For the friends I have had for multiple years, I have no idea how many times I have covered for them or done them extra favors.
Qualities that make a good friend are honestly, trust, and the biggest is loyalty, for me. I don’t believe you can have any sort of relationship without honesty and trust. You have to have trust in someone to get close to them. Loyalty is huge to me because I am a very loyal person to those I care about, so I think I deserve the same in return.
I have been through a lot of friends and it seems like I have kept the same ones that I have been with for years. They have the qualities you could ever want in a good friend. I know if I was ever in trouble my friends would be there in a heartbeat to help me out, no matter what the situation is.

1.what is one thing you have learned from an older person?
One thing I’ve learned from an older person would have to be something my dad told me a couple of years ago when he figured out I was stealing and got caught shoplifting. “what you do know that affects others (good/bad) will find its way back around and bite you in the butt.”
2. do you know anyone that has died of a drug over-dose? Describe them. How has it affected you?
I’ve known many people that have died due to a drug over-dose.
The person that has affected me most would have to be my uncle Russell.
He wasn’t just some druggie that didn’t care about anything else but his habit, he was selfless and compassionate. When my mom was pregnant with my little brother and sister she didn’t have any where to stay. I was about five and I remember him taking us in and taking really good care of us even-though he was living at his Moms house. She wasn’t happy about it but she still let us stay. If it wasn’t for him we would have ended up staying in a shelter with a bunch of bums or something so I am really grateful for him.

Music has been in life since day one, it’s the only thing to pull me up when I was down. Even when I was young my dad, use to play music really loud to wake us up. So I’ve always liked music. It don’t matter what I listen to just as long as it has a meaning behind it. Me myself I like to rap and write poetry. It helps keep me calm and chill with myself. If it wasn’t for music I would probably still be stuck on weed or something else. One of my favorite rappers is 2pac because of his poetic energy that he brings to the stage.
I think that every body should love music any kind it’s good for the mind and you can get loc to it.

When I was about twelve years old, I had a friend named Billy Boren. He was not only my friend but my all time crush. I had, had a crush on him since the 5th grade. Well, one night we were trying to think of something fun to do and could not come up with anything. He suggested bowling- lame, movies- boring. Then he got the bright idea of cops and robbers. Cops and robbers is this game were you have about twenty to thirty people, and some of the people are “cops” and the rest are “robbers.” The cops are in cars and the robbers are on foot. The object of the game is for the robbers to get from one side of town to the other without getting caught by the “cops.”
Well when we eventually got the whole thing organized and everybody there I got kind of nervous and had a bad feeling in my stomach. I was planning on staying by Billy’s side but I have never played this game before but they didn’t know that on account of I wanted to be cool and said, “ I’ve taken every route in this game, I am pro.” The game started as Billy took off to the left. It was pretty easy at first then I saw where we were headed: a row of backyards! I thought this scene only happened in movies. Where the bad guys jumped over a series of fences. However in two, three, one… first fence over with, second, third, fourth, ditch!!! Yes! I said Ditch after the fourth fence I jumped straight into a ditch full of water! Of course Billy and Chris, this other guy who decided to run with us, knew that it was there and jumped over it. I smoothly got up and out of the water and started to run. They were laughing really hard but I couldn’t figure out why. I felt unusually light in the fact that I had just gotten out of a ditch full of water.
In the next two seconds I realized something that was too late to fix. Because I was caught in the fact that the cops got me and my pants were about 150 yards behind me probably floating in the ditch downstream. Great!!!! I am without pants under headlights in front of the crush of my life. Best night of my life.

The very first concert I ever went to was Godsmack. It was so much fun! I got these um . . . clothes, yeah clothes and it was 20 dollars! Wow! You see the problem with that was that it was just a little piece of cloth. It is very cute though I still have it. Anyways I got punched in the jaw when we were in the mosh pit. The problem was that I was not even in the mosh pit. They just attacked me it was kind of sad actually. I was to little to see the stage very good so I sat on my boyfriends’ shoulders. This was just like 3 years ago. I thought it was so much fun but there was a lot of hot sweaty people and it was sick because some of them had their shirts off and were all hairy with sweat. They are all moshing on you and it is gross! I have only been to a couple of concerts but I really like them. By the time it has gone on for a few I get really tiered though. I mean standing and jumping and throwing yourself everywhere gets very tiring.

What is one thing that I have learned from an older person? I have learned a lot from older people, like my brother for instance, I learned how to smoke, drink, ride BMX bikes, and pick up girls. I also learned how to do math, English, and science from teachers, I learned how to play the guitar and play the baritone from teachers too.
How do I deal with gossip? When I here gossip about one of my friends I try to stop it from spreading, but if I here gossip about someone I don’t even know then I just try to stay put of it.
Do I know anybody who has died of an overdose? No I don’t know of anybody who has died of a drug overdose, but I do know someone who died in my life. My friend threatened to kill himself and I didn’t believe him but I went to his house just in case, I got to his house and went to his room and he was bleeding really bad ‘cause he had cut his wrists (our motto was “when you cut you don’t go across the road you go down it”) we called an ambulance but they didn’t get there fast enough. Yeah, it’s kind of a touchy subject to me. I was really depressed and wouldn’t talk to any one for like a month.

I get along with my dad. But my mom is dead. I never really got along with her because we were so much a like, but my dad and I’ve always close. I loved both of my parents. I don’t really know if they trusted me Because they just let me do whatever I wanted.
I think that drugs and alcohol does cause violent. People that are on them are not in their right minds. When you are high you try things that can hurt you. That is because you can’t feel anything. You do it cause it feels weird when you do those things. So on drugs and alcohol you are likely to get hurt.

What have I learned from an older person? I have learned a lot from older people. My grandma has taught me the most. She taught me to have respect for myself before I can respect anyone else. The most important thing she has taught me is that I have to trust. I could not trust anyone before. She sat me down and talked to me for a very long time about that. Now I trust a lot of people. Maybe not as many as I should, but I trust a lot more.
Do I know anyone who has died of a drug overdose? Yes I have known a lot of people that I have died of that. My friend Nichole she is alive now. Her heart stopped when she took one to many pills one night. I was there when that happened. It totally sucked. It has affected me so much. I watched one of my closest friends go from a beautiful girl to skinny as heck and taking all sorts of pills for her heart. It is crazy how fast it can happen. It changed my life forever.

How do you deal with gossip?
I generally try to avoid gossip because I don’t like to listen to it. I hate it when people talk about me or spread rumors about me regardless if they are true or not. I think it can really hurt people and make them feel worthless or bad. It happens all the time, and nobody is excluded.
Do you know anyone who has died of a drug-overdose? Describe them. How has it affected you?
Yes, I have lost the most important person in my world to a drug-overdose. My mom died because of it. It destroyed me and is one of the very worst things that ever happened to me in my life. I loved her very much and she was one of the greatest people I ever knew. She cared so much for us kids, and did everything in her ability to take care of us. She was so thoughtful and generous even though the drugs made it hard for her to be her true self. She still tried to help everybody around her. She was not a bad person, but she just had a problem which eventually took away her life. No matter what mistakes she ever made, I will always love her. It has affected me in so many ways.
People always think that drugs only affect themselves but that’s not true. It affects everybody around you. Especially when something like that happens.

Teenagers vs. Parents
I think teenagers argue with their parents because kids want to do everything they want to, but the parents have been there done that. They don’t want their kids to make the same mistakes as them they already have been through it so there trying to stop it. On the other hand, though kids want to live their life and learn their own way, kids should be smart and learn from their parent’s mistakes.
My parents tell me crap all the time that I shouldn’t do because they have had bad consequences, but I don’t really want to listen to them all the time. All I want is to live my life the way it is and not listen at all to them. This is why we argue all the time is because I hate listening to them because they are always right.
Luckily my parents trust me pretty good. Sometimes they do get suspicious but that is ok. I’m use to it. My parents trust me because when they do get suspicious I’m really not doing anything bad. I don’t think I have ever done anything to break my trust. Hopefully the arguing can stop soon and my family will be happier.

Embarrassing
Have I ever done something to impress someone I liked? Honestly I don’t really think so but I have embarrassed myself in front of someone I liked. If I didn’t embarrass myself, then my dad or step-mom or my stepbrother or my little nine-year-old sister would do it for me; never fails. She’s probably the best at it! She got this brilliant idea to bring out the family home videos of when I was like six or seven. Well I had quite a bit of people at my house that night, including the person I was dating at the time.
They helped hold me down and started tickling me and then started to give me a “pink belly” while some of the others pulled out their phones and started recording it. My face was so red and wet from all the laughter tears! Well once someone sent me what they recorded of me, I saw myself dancing in these ugly pink shorts with a different colored pink shirt. I was shaking my seven-year-old butt to Ricky Martin. Can you say EMBARRASSING? The next day at school, everyone knew who I was and what I did when I was little.

If I could change my name, I wouldn’t even want to. I would keep the name I already have. I don’t mind my name at all. My mom named me Alexa for a reason. It would probably make her really sad if I changed my name. Plus I think Alexa fits me. I can’t imagine myself with any other name.
I don’t have a favorite television show. I really like the murder mystery shows though. Snapped is one of my favorite. I think it is very interesting.
My very biggest dream is to travel the world and try everything once. One of the places I want to go first is Egypt.

“When will people look into my eyes take a step in my shoes? Experience all my cries with everything I do? ‘Cause I am sick of all the lies that come from your lips, you say this you say that but you know it needs to quit. My patience is running low see I got to go. I am like a bomb ticking trying to stick it or flick it….” I want to make a CD of my raps before I graduate high school. I have been rapping since I was 12 and enjoy doing it. I try to write a rap every day. I am looking around for someone who can help me put together some background music and actually record it.
I would like to become really good at longboarding. I longboard everyday and am getting better. I am the type of person who likes to “go big or go home.” I like to do the extreme things; I would like to get good enough to be able to go down the Provo canyon.
I have been in foster care for 9 and half years and have not been in a foster home for more than 6-7 months. My goal is to be in a permanent home before I graduate high school. I would like to live with my old foster parents who now live in Arizona.
I got a pink camera for Christmas this last year and have enjoyed making little movie clips. I would like to complete a full movie. It will be an outrageously humorous video.
I have 266 hours to complete and would like to get them done before I graduate high school. I love to help others and stuff like that so it isn’t really a burden for me. I need to get them done for my court.

My first goal I want to accomplish this year is to get a job. I want to start saving a lot of money for the future, and get more work experience. I am going to start filling out applications for different places and hope that I can get hired. After I get a job then I want to keep it for at least 3 months.
My second goal is to finish foster care and move on to independent living. This is probably one of the more important ones to me in my life. I need to work very hard to reach this goal and I know that I can. I need to save some money, go to school, and stay out of trouble.
My next goal is to graduate early. If I graduate early then I can get out of foster care that much sooner and move on my own. I’m not that far behind and if I work hard I can be done by January. I just need to do lots of extra credit, and stay caught up.
This next goal is really random but I want to read at least 50 books this year. I really don’t know why I want to do this, but I think it’s a good goal. I love to read, and can finish a book really fast. Im hoping this can get me into other books that maybe I never would have read before. I know I can do it.
My very last goal is to save 2,000 dollars by the time I finish high school. So that is actually really soon.

I want to get my own place.
So when I get out of the system I have somewhere to go. Plus so I can have the feel of being on my own. So when I ‘m out in the world I know what to do.
Get a job.
To help me get going on my career. So I can start to learn how to do budget. So I can get going on being independent. I can do a lot of applications and go and check up on them.
Get good grades.
I want to get into law school. You need those good grades to get into law schools. So I’m going to school and getting all my work in so I can get grades because that’s what I had a problem doing.
Don’t get into too much trouble.
So I don’t get sent back to the group home. And have to prove myself all over again. I can do this by staying away from things that might get me into trouble.
Control my temper.
So I’m not so aggressive and get made at everything so easily. So I can control myself. I can do this by working with my therapist.

Ok so I am supposed to tell you all my goals. First I would really like to graduate. I have 13 credits left and I am dedicated to doing it! I came to this school with only 4 credits and now being a senior I am ready to work even harder this year. I am going to memorize poetry, go to plays, read books, and do packets along with passing all my classes. I am going to graduate.
Another goal I have is to get a car. I finally got my permit after taking the test 6 times. I get my license October 31st and I hope to have a car by then. I have been going to A1 and practicing driving. I really want to get a Toyota Tacoma but I won’t get that for a long time. So in the mean time I am going to get a little Geo Metro. It is 600 dollars, just in my price range, ha ha!
For my 3rd goal I would like to become a dance teacher. I have been dancing since 3rd grade and it’s my passion. I would love to teach others what I love to do. Everything about it makes me happy, the music, and the beat, moving your body, and just going crazy. I have a neighbor that has a dance studio in her basement and I might be an assistant teacher until I have my own dance studio. I have a dance studio of my own.
I would have to say another goal I have is to get the summit award. The best way for me to get that is just to be there for everyone and just to do things nice for everyone. Pretty much I need to make a difference at summit and be a positive influence to everyone. I love summit and love making friends so I hope this year I can make a big enough difference to be able to get the summit award.
Now for my last goal I would have to say I would like to get into my own place. I cant get that until I graduate.

1. I want to graduate high school with a diploma. This will make it easier for me to get a job in the future. It also makes you look good when there’s an interview you have to go to. Not many people in my family have graduated. So if I make it through. It will mean a lot to my family. The only way that I can make it is by staying focused and working hard.
2. I want to make enough money to get a car and an apartment. I will have to get a job and save up my money. The reason that I want a car is because it’s easier to get around when you have to get somewhere. And a home I want because I need somewhere to live when I get out of the system. Plus I need to live on my own because there’s too much trouble at home with my mom’s.
3. I want to stay out of the system and anything else that will hold me back.

To pass all my classes is one of my main goals I would like to accomplish. In the past few years I have been lacking to pay attention and to do all my homework. This year I want to do the opposite of that and get almost like all A’s or at least better then C’s. I’m going to pay attention in all of my classes and learn how to do everything. I will also try as hard as I can to keep up on my homework.
I would also like to get better at reading. I need to do better in English class to do this. When we are reading in class I need to pay attention and listen to all the big words. One way to learn the words so I can understand books are to write down all the words as we are reading and then look up the words later.
Another goal is that I would like to learn how to speak another language. In some colleges I would like to look at you have to be able to speak another language to attend the school. To do this I need to take some other classes at another school so I can learn it. I am probably looking at speaking Spanish since it’s getting so common around here.
One of my favorite goals I would like to complete is to start taking Pilot lessons. A couple of years ago my dad took us flying at the U.V.U pilot school. We got to take control up in the air and kind of fly around. Then last year for my birthday I took two friends flying with me and I got to fly around more. Ever since I would love to get my pilot’s license and I can get it when I turn 16.
My final goal is to just graduate high school! By doing all of my other goals it will help me accomplish this goal. After I accomplish this one I can start going to college and take my life further. I’m just going to pay attention in school so I pass all of my classes and some what get ahead in credits then I will graduate!

One of my goals I want to accomplish before I graduate would be to catch up on credits. If and when I catch up on credits, I can graduate on time. Then I would be given the opportunity to walk with my class. To make all of that happen, I’ve got to study hard and pass all of my classes.
My second goal I plan to achieve would to be able to go home. I would love to be placed at home so I’m with family. If I were not in a program, then I wouldn’t have to focus on all the proctor issues. I can focus on school work. My idea to accomplish all of that would be to follow all the rules in my program and not get into any trouble.
My third goal I wish to accomplish is to make new friends at this new school I’m at. I’d love to take some kind of breaks from all my schooling and have a social life. I understand to not allow my social life to take over my whole life. The way to have my goal met is to be interactive and talk and be friendly but not get too obsessed.
My fourth goal I wish to make happen would be to actually graduate! I know it’s going to take a lot of work and extra effort. I may have little to no credits but I’m going to have to crack down and become a “nerd” to get where I want to be so I can become the firefighter I want to be.
My fifth and final goal I want to make happen would be to make my attendance better than its been the past few years. I plan to get up every morning on time and get ready and not miss my bus. I know I’ve got to go to bed at a decent hour so I get enough sleep. I wish to have good attendance because if I have good attendance then I’ll be in school to pay more attention and actually learn something and qualify to make my expectancy of my grades. Then I’ll be able to catch up on credits so I can graduate. So this final goal ties up with the rest.

My first goal would be to get my drivers license. I have been slacking on it for two years now. Life is so much easier when you don’t have to depend on other people to drive you around. I’ve started the process of getting it so hopefully I’ll be driving very soon.
My second goal is to get a job. I’ve never had a job so getting one would help a lot with responsibility and independence. I don’t just want to get any job though. I would like to get a job that I would enjoy doing.
My third goal is take my GED. This can give me extra credits and will let me know where I am at and what I need to work on. It’s a general education so I could start using it now.
My fourth goal would be graduating high school. It’s a little unrealistic because I am so behind. Working to toward it and doing what I can will pay off though. I can go on and eventually get my adult diploma in the future.
And my fifth goal, of course is to find a college to go to. I’m not exactly sure what I want to get my degree in yet, but I can start on my generals. That way I won’t be stuck doing them when I decide what I would like to do.
